The boat of 'Residing Evil'...

So, I got Resident Evil: Revelations on Friday.
And I completed Resident Evil: Revelations on Sunday...

MY GOD! It's a good game!

I'm not going to spoil anything for you, but it's so good. The storyline, which is a terrorist thriller is really well-thought out, with enough twists and turns to make Yawn proud!

The game's atmosphere is reministant of the original game; going into a horrific environment with only a pistol and a few rounds of extra ammo... and ammo, herbs and escape routes are just scarse enough to make the game feel like you need every bullet, every herb, every quick-dodge... It also does away with the quick-time events all together, but does use a few "defend-the-area"-style set pieces. Some are more successful than others, and the game never just springs it up on you (whenever you come up to a room where this happens, it always seems to have quite a lot of ammo/grenades/herbs), but it can be quite a Hellish nightmare to try and defend yourself in a small corner with all manner of enemies jumping (or oozing) out from everywhere.

There's also something interesting with how the game plays with time; there are twelve "episodes" in the game, each episode divided into two parts, and one of these two parts is usually set in a different area, with different enemies, and don't feature the usual team of Jill&Parker.
Which leads me to one interesting point; there are four player characters! FOUR!!!

The monsters are really good, too! It's kinda like RE4 & 5, where the mooks, here called 'Oozes', have a few different mutations and attacks, and there are the oft-used dog mutations. (Well, not dogs, wolves!) You've also got a returning creature; the Hunter. Oh God, the Hunter. Which aren't so bad, when you can see them...

As a survival horror, it's really good; as a Resident Evil game, it's really, really good! It also helped whet my apetite for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City...
